Bauerfeind AG (Corp.) manufactures medical products such as compression socks, bandages, orthopedic inserts, and prosthetic customized parts, and belongs to that group of German mid-sized companies that leads its industry area, but is also widely unknown to the public at large. During the process of completely reorganizing the company, the company implemented SAP ERP, including BW and CRM, and replaced its legacy systems.
CIO Eberhard Hahn commissioned VMS to provide an independent assessment of the (presumably high) quality of the newly installed systems, to be then shown to the company’s central steering committee. VMS’s analysis confirmed Hahn’s initial beliefs. Bauerfeind does indeed use best practices to allocate personnel, and was only slightly above best practices in software costs.
