Beiersdorf is a cosmetics company with a rich history. The Beiersdorf products Nivea, Eucerin, and Labello can be found in almost every German household. Beiersdorf Shared Services GmbH (BSS) is a 100% owned subsidiary of Beiersdorf AG (Corp.). BSS provides accounting and information system services as an internal IT and accounting service provider for the entire Beiersdorf Group. BSS's product range comprises more than 180 products and services. BSS has 275 employees at its headquarters in Hamburg, and 350 worldwide.

In 2007, VMS carried out a comprehensive benchmarking of the SAP systems for a second time at Beiersdorf Shared Services. The systems were analyzed for performance and costs in contrast to the market and best practices. DNA-level benchmark was used to analyze the various SAP components in terms of system loads, available costs, response times, and other variables, and put those factors in relation to one another in the analysis, to obtain an overall picture of the complex SAP landscape.
