Radeberger Gruppe KG, Radeberg/Frankfurt (Germany)

The Radeberger Group KG, located in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, is a subsidiary of the Oetker Group. The Group makes well-known German beer brands such as Radeberger Pilsner, Jever, Freiberger, Allgäuer Brauhaus (from Kempten in the Allgäu region of Germany), Schöfferhofer Weizen, Selters, and Tucher. That business area had sales of approximately 1.25 billion euros in 2007.

Before a new SAP release, Radeberger commissioned an analysis of its SAP landscape to check its efficiency and to check for any structural deficits.
Radeberger had its own applications that it developed for the special requirements related to beverage logistics. So the job given to VMS was to provide relevant benchmarking values, also taking into account those in-house applications. And also to be taken into account was the fact that those in-house applications led the company to staying with older SAP releases.

VMS carried out an analysis of operating cost structure and benchmarking with respect to market standards, and determined not only potential for improvement in the area of application governance, but also at the operative level, for example, in the backup process. Instead of deciding in favor of a release upgrade for its own applications, Radeberger decided in favor of a new implementation of SAP, based on the current release level.
