The optimal assignment of licenses to roles and users is no easy job – and is not supported by the SAP system.
The transparency of the licenses actually used is not a given for many companies. User-profiles and role-distribution are subject to constant change in companies, and orienting licensing to that in real time is not an easy task for a company’s IT department. What makes this even more difficult is well-known manufacturer licensing policy, which also – but not always – reflects regularly-changing user definitions.
VMS has developed a very efficient software-aided process for shedding light onto this “labyrinth” and that can considerably increase savings potential.
Based on the users’ actual working methods, an optimal assignment of existing licenses is carried out. This avoids such things as unnecessary additional purchases.
However, if an additional purchase is necessary due to increasing use, measuring provides the basis for an extremely accurate definition of the requirements and, with that, often for significant savings.
